Living Labs: Innovation spaces designed and created by our team
The problem
Institutions need a framework to explore future education and research spaces
Universities are investing in new cutting edge EdTech and pedagogy within their institutions. Cutting edge training solutions need to be accessible, scalable and flexible, and their successful implementation requires a rare combination of skills and experience across education, new technologies, design and change management.
Our team partners with universities to design spaces that support the production of scalable, remote or asynchronous, high quality training materials and learning. We specialise in virtuality for education and research, bringing faculty together with EdTech professionals to push the boundaries of existing formats, aesthetics, and conventions for using xR technologies within these environments.
We call these spaces ‘Living Labs’, and have a tried and tested framework for their design and rollout.
Solution
Living Labs for collaboration, creativity, communication and contemplation
Flexible spaces for academic and professional staff who are curious about creating digitally-enhanced experiences for teaching, learning and working.
Cutting-edge digital provision including immersive technologies and multimedia production studios for educators and learners
Leadership support to strengthen external networks of collaborators and suppliers
Agile and resilient technical infrastructure, that is easy to maintain, update, and scale, and that allows for experimentation
Impact
We have designed and built Living Labs with partners at Imperial College London, The University of Leeds, and Leiden University
Our team has given them the power to build on their strengths to develop cutting-edge training and innovation facilities, providing a vision for existing infrastructure, and the selection and refurbishment of physical spaces that are easily accessible and positioned for digital learning production.
Flexible spaces, innovative outcomes
Training and education facilities for students, faculty and the wider community to engage with and learn
Access to the latest technologies available with a focus on, but not limited to, xR technologies
A base to facilitate the research and development of new products in the technology-enhanced learning space, something which is essential for inspiring and empowering students
“The availability of resources such as podcasting booths and studios has streamlined the support for our entrepreneurial projects. The unique atmosphere in HELIX provided a level playing field for students and staff, making it an ideal space for networking events that foster creativity, innovation, and real-world impact”
Dr. Richard Tunstall, Associate Professor in Enterprise, Leeds University Business School
